How many trucks do you operate under this brand?

One

Do you operate brink-and-mortar locations under this brand as well? How many?

None

How did you come up with the name?

My daughter and I were talking one night about starting a food truck. We were playing around with different names, then I said I got the munchies, so the idea of the name Munchie Busters came to me because I was hungry.

What prompted you to start a food truck?

It was my daughter's idea because I always instilled in my kids that whatever you do in life do something that you love and have a passion for because then you will never work a day in your life. So, my daughter decided to start a food truck business.

What's on your food truck menu? Why did you choose this cuisine?

We have a variety of food and snacks as we are also a ice cream truck. Our menu includes:

  • Aguas frescas.
  • Asada nachos.
  • Asada fries.
  • Frito pie.
  • Hot Cheetos and cheese.
  • Corn in a cup.
  • Hot dogs, hamburgers and more.

Do you make all the food on the truck or do you use home-based kitchen or commissary space?

We have a commissary where we do all the prep. We prepare everything fresh.

What's the best part of being a food truck operator?

Going to different events and meeting and serving the people and just seeing their faces when they eat our food.

What's the worst part of operating a food truck?

Honestly to me the worst part is the long hours and the hard work. Bu I love this type of work, and at the end of the day you are making money for yourself.

What lessons have you learned since launching the truck?

Well through trial and error, we did almost everything on our own. We paid everything out of pocket, but we should have had some professional help

Is there anything you would have done differently at the start?

Yes, we should have got some professional help

Any tips/advice to others thinking of launching a food truck?

First make sure this is what you love and have a passion for because if you do you will never work a day in your life. Go for it

Do you have any anecdotes about running a food truck — any unique interactions or special events you've been booked at?

Yes, we were actually featured on a food truck show on Youtube.
