40% of customers say that they don't tip food trucks

A recent Forbes Advisor survey found that 40% of customers won't tip food trucks, ranking higher than fast casual restaurants at 38% and takeout food at 36%.

This trend may reflect that customers typically don't consider tipping at takeout restaurants necessary, as opposed to full service restaurants, according to a report by News Nation.

"People think it's manipulative, they resent it, and their perceptions of service go down," Michael Lynn, a marketing and management communication professor at Cornell University, said in the report.
