Anchorage, Alaska, elections officials have arranged for a couple of food trucks to park outside of the city's election headquarters at 619 East Ship Creek Ave. — along with a kombucha business and a farmers market — to encourage participation in a special election, according to the Anchorage Daily News.
The special election was called after West Anchorage Assemblyman Tim Steele resigned for health reasons.
The food trucks will serve from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Carolyn Hall, city elections education and outreach coordinator, said voters can grab lunch and watch election workers process ballots inside.
As of Friday, only about 12 percent of registered voters had returned ballot envelopes — it is hoped that the food trucks will help to attract a greater number of voters before the Tuesday voting deadline.
