American Express and Resy have launched a Order In, Help Out campaign to rally consumers, and the restaurant industry, to support U.S independent restaurants this winter, according to a news release.
With restaurants in dire need of support, the campaign aims to raise awareness about the positive impact of ordering out.
Data from American Express shows that takeout has become a last lifeline for struggling restaurants this winter as they continue to face impacts of the pandemic. The same study revealed that, on average:
As part of "Order In, Help Out," American Express and Resy are rallying consumers across social media to make #TakeoutTuesday a weekly occurrence. By ordering takeout on Tuesdays, one of the slowest days of the week for restaurants, consumers can help make a positive impact on the cafes in their community.
To inspire #TakeoutTuesday orders, American Express and Resy will partner with restaurants in select cities to create limited-edition takeout packages, launching on February 16 at Resy.com/Takeout.
The packages will be available at participating restaurants each Takeout Tuesday (2/23, 3/2, 3/9/ 3/16). In addition, restaurants around the country will be able to tap into Resy's Takeout Tuesday toolkit to create their own takeout experiences and join the campaign.
The Resy toolkit — including social assets, digital stickers, web banners and more - will be available starting Feb. 17, at ResyOS.com/Takeout.
To further encourage spend at restaurants, beginning today American Express U.S. Consumer Cobrand Card Members (eg. Delta SkyMiles, Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy) can enroll to earn up to $220 back in statement credits when they spend at U.S. restaurants through Dec. 31, 2021. Additional Card Member offers and benefits will be announced soon.
