The Vilonia, Arkansas, city council is scheduled to vote on an ordinance establishing standards for mobile food and business vendors after holding its first reading on the ordinance, according to the Log Cabin Democrat.
The ordinance will only allow food trucks in the town center or highway mixed use districts and not in city rights of way, city parks or other public or private properties without first securing a city privilege tax.
The vehicles must be on paved surfaces or approved parking areas and can operate only on private property. The vehicles also must have a health permit from the state health department.
The ordinance also requires the trucks to provide garbage receptacles for customer use in addition to cleaning the area after closing.
