Atlanta's City Council is officially embracing the concept of a comprehensive food truck program that would oversee truck operations on public land.
The council passed a resolution this week to create a formal program that could also include a "village" for food truck operators, according to an Atlantic Journal-Constitution report.
The next step is legislation from the city's planning department and then review by the city's neighborhood planning units as well as a public hearing before the city council.
At present food truck operators need to obtain a $145 initial permit ($125 for renewal) and follow rules about parking and where they can sell food.
