The cost of an avocado is at its highest level in more than two decades, with a 20-pound box hitting $38 as of March 29.
The price tag is the highest since 1998, according to a New York Post report citing government data analyzed by Bloomberg.
The news comes soon after the U.S. temporarily halted Mexico imports about a month ago due to safety concerns and then lifted that ban a week later, and as supply chain issues and inflation factors remain pressure points for the U.S. economy.
