The Brick Township Council in New Jersey updated its ordinance and is considering allowing food trucks to park in one spot for longer periods of time. Currently, Class I food trucks can only stay in one spot for two hours, but the ordinance would extend that to six hours, according to a report by Brick Shorebeat.
Town officials believe this ordinance will help bring food truck regulations up to date and undo some of the older rules that were made during the 1990s when hot dog trucks proliferated on the streets.
This isn't the first time the town has updated its food truck rules. In 2023, the town increased the maximum number of Class II food trucks allowed from seven to 10.
