California city moves forward on updated food truck rules

October 12, 2020

The Hanford City Council has unanimously approved a food truck ordinance after years of study, meetings and hearings.

"We have worked on this for a long time and it's nice to see fruition," Council member Sue Sorensen told the Hanford Sentinel.

Food trucks must be 250 feet from any brick-and-mortar restaurant and the brick-and-mortar category does not include fast food or beverage retailers.

Trucks parking in Civic Park will have greater access beyond Friday and Saturday and can use the park as long as they attain approval from the parks department.

There are also various permits required depending on the type of vehicle, location and length of stay for operation, according to the report.
