In eight months, a once troubled section of Redding, California has been transformed into a popular food truck park, according to a Record Searchlight report.
Promoter Todd Franklin developed the former Carnegie Park, next to the Lorenz Hotel on Yuba Street in downtown Redding, into a food truck park called The Park. The Park is open 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Franklin, who said he was inspired by a visit to a food truck park in Bend, Oregon, said he has a stable of 20 food trucks.
Carnegie Park two years ago was a work-free drug zone and a source of frequent police calls. Franklin upgraded the area's portable restrooms with state-of-the-art toilets with heated floors and provided Bluetooth access, according to the report.
