Santa Maria, California, plans to crack down on food trucks in response to residents' complaints, according to the Santa Maria Sun. Citations can be issued with fines a minimum of $1,000.
Joy Castaing, code compliance officer, said the city has been "bombarded" with complaints regarding truck parking times, locations and other concerns. Complaints have come from passersby, restaurant owners and others. Callers claimed that food trucks were parked in single locations for several hours and that truck workers set up tables and chairs.
