Chicago Tribune applauds mayor for easing city food truck rules

January 2, 2020

The Chicago Tribune is applauding Mayor Lori Lightfoot's recently announced decision to relax food truck restrictions that many consider to be the most restrictive in the country.

An editorial noted Chicago's adventurous diners have been deprived of what innovative food trucks offer because of the restrictions.

The mayor is proposing a law to extend the length of time a food truck can remain in one spot from two to four hours. Trucks would also be able to serve from any legal parking space, as opposed to being required to be 200 feet away from a brick-and-mortar restaurant.
