The Work Options for Women organization in Colorado is putting a food truck to work to drive its mission of helpng underserved residents find work and improve occupational skill sets.
The truck, called Helping Hen, offers rotisserie chicken and is staffed by local individuals who have been released from incarceration, according to a Westword report.
Truck employees are employed under a paid internship that allows students who have completed training to gain additional experience while being able to pay bills.
"Foodservice is a lot more than just restaurants," Tessa Houston, the organization's culinary program and special projects manager, told the news outlet. "There are all kinds of areas that students can go into, and we're always looking for positions where students can work their way up into supervisory roles."
