At the start of 2021 a Food Trucks Against Homelessness program launched in Colorado, Springs with food trucks taking turns helping feed those in need.
Now as it nears its first-year anniversary the effort is welcoming donations to keep the program going as the numbers of those needing food have increased over the year, according to a KRDO report.
Every Monday a different food truck serves up fare and at the start it was about 80 to 100 people being served. Now the number is steadily over 100, mostly due to the pandemic.
"I would have to say that we probably spend, between helping the food truck if the food truck wants the $200 reimbursement, we probably spend between $500 to $800 a week between supplies and food and supplies to be able to serve that hot meal," Tracey Porter, Food Trucks Against Homelessness, told the news outlet.
