Complaints mount against Arizona man claiming to be a food truck builder

July 25, 2019

Several people in Arizona have complained that a man who claims to be a food truck builder has not delivered on his commitments and is holding their money, according to an investigation by 3 On Your Side.

The TV station earlier this month reported that Amber Clark claims to have paid Alberto Santacruz $12,600 to build a truck but he has not delivered. Confronted by 3 On Your Side at his place of business in Tucson, Santacruz said he will return Clark's money in four weekly installments.

More viewers have since stepped forward with similar stories.

Zayra Felix said she paid Santacruz $25,000 in cash to build a food trailer, but a month later, she doesn't have it and is worried.

Malissa Diener said she drove from Phoenix to Tucson and bought a food trailer from Santacruz, who operates Santacruz Food Trucks. Diener claims to have paid Santacruz almost $14,000 in cash to build a food trailer nearly a year ago and has received nothing for her money.

Nearly a half dozen other people have said they gave Santacruz a total of around $90,000 for food trucks or trailers that they never received.

The Arizona Attorney General's Office said wants to hear from victims after contacted by 3 On Your Side.
