Connecticut town considers allowing food trucks on private property

July 9, 2019

The New Milford, Connecticut town council will consider allowing food trucks to serve on private properties that are willing to host them, according to a Stamford Advocate report.

The proposed ordinance will require food trucks to pay $80 to set up at a location for two weeks and $140 for a month in addition to the existing $10 fire department fee if propane is used. The mayor, police chief and health director will have to approve each permit.

Food trucks were previously not permitted on private property more than four times a year.

Under the proposed changes, businesses with kitchens will not be allowed to host food trucks and the trucks cannot serve within 250 feet of an established restaurant.
