The Denver Police Department recently banned food trucks from parking in a major business area in the lower downtown area on weekends. The department did this to combat violence, due to a spree of shootings in the downtown area, according to a report by 9 News.
Food truck operators expressed frustration at how they had short notice about this change.
"We're a truck, we're mobile, so it's very important that the consistency of our time, our schedule and our location, it's always the same. Moving half a block away would essentially be me restarting a whole new business," Alex Salomon, a food truck operator said in the report. "So essentially, this is cutting me off completely."
The police expect these new restrictions will only impact six-to-10 food trucks, but Salomon believes more than 30 food trucks will lose business due to this restriction.
The change takes place on Sept. 5.
