Florida council reduces regs relating to food truck operations

August 14, 2020

The St. Petersburg City Council, in St. Petersburg, Florida, has stripped out regulations relating to licensing, permitting, registration and fees for food trucks.

While local officials still retain control over food truck operations in regard to zoning and location, they no longer can add to state rules regarding licensing requirements. Health and safety issues for food trucks, according to a Catalyst report, are under the jurisdiction of the state.

One local food truck operator hopes the council also considers more flexible parking regulations and allowing several trucks to operate in one location for longer hours.
