Florida food truck park seeks beer and wine license

December 6, 2019

The Village Garden Food Truck Park, which opened last December, will serve beer and wine if the county approves a request to serve alcohol outdoors, according to a report in The St. Augustine Record. Owners Kelly and Brendan Schneck said many customers have requested the beverages.

The St. Johns County Planning and Zoning Agency approved the Schnecks' special use permit in January 2019, but the County Commission reversed the decision after receiving complaints from adjacent property owners in the residential neighborhood. The commission required the Schnecks to wait a year before reapplying for the license.

The Schnecks said they have since worked out parking issues and changed their closing time from 10 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Village Garden, located at the intersection of State Road A1A and A1A Beach Boulevard, has tables, chairs, a rock garden, landscaping and kids' games.

Food trucks include Big Island Bowls, New York Beach Bagels, Pele's Wood Fire, Riptide BBQ and Good Karma Cafe.
