St. Pete Beach, Florida is enacting new rules to allow food trucks on the island, according to ABC Action News.
Food trucks will have to apply for a conditional use permit, to be renewed annually. They then must be invited onto a private business property in the downtown area of St. Pete Beach. The trucks will only be allowed to serve food twice a week. Those running a generator have to be 200 feet from a residential district.
Businesses that invite food trucks on their property can host no more than two at a time.
Mayor Allen Johnson said strict rules are needed to protect St. Pete Beach restaurants. There are about 132 food trucks on the island.
