Food trucks from across the country will come to Pensacola, Florida this week as Food Network's reality competition show, The Great Food Truck Race, films the event on Wednesday and Thursday, according to The Pulse.
The show, described as "a multi-week showdown that challenges food truck teams to outsell one another in a coast-to-coast road trip," is filming its eighth season.
Filming will take place at Naval Air Station Pensacola and at several locations throughout the downtown, including Joe Patti's. The episode's final scene, in which a food truck will be eliminated, will be filmed at Plaza de Luna.
Food trucks have been controversial in Pensacola in recent years. There are no restrictions on where food trucks can operate downtown, but city council members have discussed a food truck ordinance to regulate food trucks' operations. Two versions of the ordinance were rejected amid lobbying from downtown restaurateurs who oppose the trucks.
