The Lakeland, Florida Planning and Zoning Board approved a permit for a food truck court called Main Street Eats. The permit will allow eight food trucks on the site, according to a report by lkldnow.

Butch Rahman, a developer, has been working with local churches and organizations in the area to allow parking and liquor sales on the premises. In particular, he plans to serve beer and wine in a historic building in the rear of the facility. He will still need to obtain City Commission approval before beginning construction on the site.

Rahman is partnering with the owners of Plates on Deck, Ken James and Ziomara Taveras, to manage the site.

"This is not going to be low-quality food; this is going to be the highest-quality food available," Rahman said of James and Taveras' soul food.
