Food truck event planned in Des Moines

The fifth annual Food Truck Throw Down will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 4 on Cherry Street between Eighth and Tenth streets in Des Moines, Iowa, according to the Des Moines Register. The event, which takes place the opening day of the downtown Des Moines farmers market, will include a food judging contest, beer tents, live music and art activities hosted by the Des Moines Social Club.

Admission will be $5 per person with children 10 and under admitted free. Food samples are $2 each and drink tickets cost $5. Attendees can vote for their favorite dishes for the Des Moines Register People's Choice Award. Cash and credit cards will be accepted. 

Proceeds will support the Des Moines Social Club's mission to use the arts as a catalyst to create community engagement.
