Food truck event returns to Denver on May 2

April 27, 2017

The largest food truck gathering in metro Denver, Civic Center EATS, returns for its 12thseason at Civic Center park on May 2, Tuesdays through Thursdays, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to The Denver Post.

This year, 69 trucks and carts have signed on to sell their food and drinks to the lunchtime crowd, with 25 or so parked out each day.

The event started 12 years ago as a once-a-week farmers market, but event organizers noticed that the main customer base —  downtown employees and tourists —  weren't really interested in picking up a bag of produce. They wanted lunch. About eight years ago, when the first wave of food trucks started rolling through town, some of those food truck pioneers agreed to set up shop at CCE.

Soon it expanded from one to two days a week, and then, in 2016 to the current three-day schedule.
