Barinder Singh, owner of the Indian Fusian food truck in Niagara Falls appeared in court for allegedly setting a woman on fire. He was indicted on felony charges: assault with intent to cause serious injury and assault with intent to cause disfigurement or dismemberment, according to a report by WKBW.
Prosecutors believe Singh set the victim on fire because she allegedly stole $5 worth of merchandize from his food truck. She is in critical condition at the Erie County Medical Center's burn unit after being doused in gasoline and set on fire.
Singh's public defender said he "vehemently denies" the allegations and is pleading not guilty.
His bail was set at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond. He is currently in the process of retaining a private attorney.
