Karla Smith, a food truck operator of Beach Side Grill, is joining with other food trucks to push to gain access to Long Beach, Mississippi. Currently the city does not allow food trucks to set up shop, except during special events, according to a report by WLOX.
Beach Side Grill currently operates just outside the city limits, and Smith will be unable to set up shop inside those limits during the Mardi Gras Parade.
"That's one of the reasons I wanted to do my truck here because they always have festivals and parades,” Smith said in the report. "I think food trucks would do really good."
The board of aldermen spoke about the issue yesterday, but has not announced any decision.
"We have to look at every aspect of it before we say, 'Yeah, let's bring it,'" Long Beach Alderman Donald Frazer said in the report. "The minute we say yes there’s really no going back."
