Food truck owners seek more freedom in Grand Rapids, Michigan

March 7, 2018

The food truck season will kick off this summer in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but some food truck owners think the food truck scene could be better if there were more freedom for food trucks, according to WZZM13.

Brennan Summers, the founder and former president of the Food Truck Association, said food trucks can operate in more areas in other cities. Summers would like to see a situation where there are more zones to operate in.

Grand Rapids City Commissioners approved a two-year pilot program in 2016 that would bring more food trucks to the downtown area. On March 6, they heard an annual report on the food truck ordinance.

The ordinance allows food trucks to operate on public property and in certain parks and downtown locations.
