Food truck park closes in Texas town due to new regulations

November 21, 2017

A food truck park called The Hitch in San Marcos, Texas recently announced in a blog post that it would no longer be a venue for food trucks after six years, according to KXAN-TV. The post said uncertainty exists around food trucks' ability to continue to obtain a city health department permit.

The Hitch, at 312 E. Hopkins St., has hosted more than 20 food trucks. On Monday, the three remaining food trucks closed.

The 2015 Texas food establishment rules have become the standard in San Marcos. The rules require wastewater disposal tanks for each trailer. Food truck owners said they will also have to move their entire trailer to a different location to be inspected rather than having inspectors come to them.
