A park refresh in north New Jersey will include a food truck picnic space.

Plans for updating Columbus Park, in Garfield, New Jersey, will include parking for five food trucks to serve up fare on weekends, according to a NorthJersey.com report.

Currently the park is home to a ball field. Enhancements will also include a splash zone, walking area and an amphitheater.

Mayor Richard Rigoglioso said the city is applying for grants and that the food truck area is viewed as a way to bring people into the park.

Food truck operators wanting to use the food truck court will need to get a permit, costing $1,000 for the year. Food trucks will be allowed to serve Friday evenings, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and noon until shortly after sunset on Saturdays and Sundays.
