Food trucks and restaurants square off in Jacksonville, Florida

May 31, 2017

Food truck and restaurant owners in Jacksonville, Florida will meet at City Hall next week to try to resolve their differences, according to news4jax.com. A panel consisting of three restaurant owners and three food truck owners has been organized to resolve the dispute.

The city has rules governing where food trucks can operate, but restaurants have complained that the trucks have an unfair advantage and are ruining established businesses.

The city councilman who oversees the panel said a resolution to the dispute is needed. Eventually, there will be new legislation on this issue that will go before the full city council.

Jacob Bander, who with his brother operates a food truck, said some changes need to be made, but he believes that trucks and restaurants can co-exist.
