The local government in Roseberg, Oregon, is taking steps to better regulate food trucks in the locality.
Until a week ago, food truck operators had to obtain a temporary use permit, which required them to notify property owners within a 100-foot radius of the operation, potentially requiring a public hearing to air out any issues. That hearing process could take up to 45 days to complete, according to a report.
However, on Oct. 22, the city changed its local codes to include food trucks under the "mini-retail business" category.
As a result of the recategorization, food trucks are now permitted on all private sites designated industrial or commercial as long as the truck operator has the landowner’s permission.
