Food trucks offer to help California fire victims; Santa Rosa tells them to wait

October 12, 2017

More than 100 food trucks have offered to help people in need of food after losing their homes to the California wildfires, but officials in Santa Rosa have asked them to hold off as the city focuses on providing people with water, fuel and generators, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

One San Francisco food truck was given permission to feed people in Petaluma.

Brandalyn Tramel, speaking for the city of Santa Rosa, said officials have no ideas about logistics.

On Tuesday, the city posted a tweet calling for "licensed and available food truck vendors." Within 24 hours, there were more than 100 inquiries from vendors from as far away as Oregon.

Curry Up Now, a San Francisco food truck, contacted about 80 of its food truck colleagues to help feed people in need.

Officials told Curry Up Now Wednesday afternoon that it could serve food at the Petaluma Police Department from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
