When the Elm Avenue Park Pool opens this year, in Delmar, New York, those enjoying the water will have a chance to enjoy different food fare.
The pool pavilion houses a concession stand which had long been run by a third party, according to a Spotlight News report, and the lease did not allow for other vendors. But COVID-19 closed the pool and concession stand earlier than usual last year and now local parks officials are bringing in food trucks as the concession vendor for pool visitors.
"At this time I believe the best course of action is to contract with multiple food truck vendors in place of one concession stand operator at the Elm Avenue Park Pool," Parks and Recreation Administrator Jason Gallo told the town board, according to the news report.
The parks and recreation administrator added the increasing popularity of food trucks should "make a nice complement to the overall park user experience."
The department is launching a pilot food truck program and will create a schedule of food trucks that aligns with the pool hours.
