Fort Hood, in Texas, is now home to a food truck that aims to modernize and improve the Army's culinary offerings.
The truck is being described as cutting-edge in providing another way to feed soldiers wherever they are, according to a Fort Hood Sentinel report. The truck is part of the Army's culinary outpost strategy, a mobile platform to improve dining facility operations for soldiers.
"We want to reach those soldiers who are in remote areas, where they have to travel longer distances (for food)," Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andy Martinez, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade food advisor, told the Sentinel. "I'm working with III Corps to establish routes around Fort Hood, where we can better extend our garrison feeding capabilities."
Fort Hood is one of five installations that now have a food truck, according to the report. The 22-foot truck features a touchscreen ordering system and an extensive menu.
