Gate City, Virginia's Town Council recently discussed how to handle food truck placement in the community. They have been dealing with this issue since last year when some restaurant owners complained about how close food trucks were parking to them, according to a report by Times news.

Mayor Jamie Lawson said the council doesn't plan to ban food trucks from downtown but are trying to figure out how to protect merchants.

The council didn't come to an agreement about the placement issue but they did draft an ordinance to charge food trucks a $100 fee per event, with the exception of civic and school events.
