The Gettysburgh Borough Council in Pennsylvania is proposing banning food trucks from operating on Lincoln Square as well as one block in each direction from the square.
The proposal is viewed as a compromise between a total food truck ban or allowing free rein for food trucks to operate, according to a Gettysburg Connection report.
Local restaurants aren't too keen about tons of food truck activity given competition and one merchants' advocate believes they pose a traffic hazard, the report said. In fact, the Gettysburgh Area Retail Merchants Association is opposed to food trucks in the borough limits, though the group would be okay if trucks were allowed in specific areas and on a business property.
The council is accepting public comments on the proposal.
