The Gonzales City Council in Louisiana approved the Foodees food truck festival for Nov. 14-16 at the Tangers Outlet mall in a 3-2 vote. It also approved 5-0 multiple seasonal food trucks at the mall, according to a report by Gonzales Weekly Citizen.
These food trucks were approved for Nov. 28-29, Dec. 13-14 and Dec. 20-24. The food truck festival caused a lot of debate at the council due to concerns over parking, as there would be 40 food trucks at the mall.
Terri Lambert, council member, said that many travel in the area during LSU football games, which can cause major backups.
"One of the worst things I've ever seen in my life is traffic backed up on the interstate," Lambert said. "That's very dangerous and that's what's going to happen because it happens with Saturday home games right now. Add all this to the mix, it's a little much."
Lambert also brought up that the festival representatives were only present via Microsoft Teams and by city ordinance, they needed to be there in person to receive permits. The other three council members disagreed and approved the festival.
