Greenville, South Carolina has increased restrictions on food trucks with a new ordinance. As part of these regulations, food trucks must take down all equipment every night unless it's part of an event, according to a report by Fox Carolina.
Food trucks that use a generator must be at least 50 feet away from a residential area. Greenville also plans to update its fire and safety regulations.
"We want to give people the opportunity to have businesses in Greenville County in any way they can, and that's a great way to do it, but, at the same time, you have a brick and mortar establishment that has to follow the certain set of guidelines that sometimes the food trucks didn't have to follow. It's really just to get it in compliance and make it fair for everybody and ultimately make it safe for everybody to go out and enjoy them," Benton Blount, chairman of the Greenville Council, said in the report.
