The mayor of Wentzville, Missouri, a St. Louis suburb, has asked lawmakers to come up with safety requirements for food trucks after an ice cream truck hit and killed a toddler, according to KSDK-TV.
Mayor Nick Guccione said sensors to alert drivers of persons in front of the vehicle, stop arms and 360 mirrors might have prevented the fatality. The truck driver did not see the toddler, Felicity Karam.
Guccione said he hopes to have a proposal by Oct. 10, the date of the next meeting of the board of aldermen.
