Illinois city seeks public input of food truck rules

February 13, 2018

The city of Champaign, Illinois, will hold a public meeting on food truck regulations at 2 p.m., Feb. 19 at the City Building, 102 N. Neil St., according to the News-Gazette.

The city wants feedback on its existing food truck regulations and will consider making changes such as where and when food trucks can operate, according to City Clerk Marilyn Banks.

Licensed food trucks can only operate in designated areas between 6 a.m. and 3 a.m. and can remain in one spot a maximum four consecutive hours. They can return to the same spot after two hours.

Food trucks cannot obstruct traffic, can't set up dining areas with tables, chairs or tents, and their signs cannot exceed 6 square feet.

The city also restricts the noise level to 75 decibels at 10 feet away.
