Illinois food truck operators are calling on legislatures to pass H.B. 1052: the Food Truck Freedom Act to remove the burden of separate licensing fees throughout the state, according to a report by My Stateline.com
In the state, food trucks have to pay separate license fees for each county and town they operate in. These fees vary in amount, which can create a strain on businesses. This act if passed, would create one statewide licensing system that would work throughout the state.
"I think it'll benefit many food truck owners financially that will be able to take part in bigger events," co-founder of Sassy Mac Boys Donald Czyzyk said in the report. "I have quite a few food truck friends that can't afford applying for all those permits. They can't front the cost to see if the event works out and sometimes events don't work out."
Several states including Texas, Florida and Oklahoma have passed similar laws.
