The Salvation Army of Elkart, in Indiana, now boasts a mobile feeding unit that will provide food at long-running emergencies and disaster sites.
The 22-foot-long food truck will provide food and beverages to first responders, according to a Goshen News report at Yahoo News.
"Imagine trying to work on a fire without a drink, without a break, without something to eat," Lt. Katy Benedict, one of the local corps officers, told the news outlet. "That's what this mobile kitchen is for: To serve first responders, anyone that is working a disaster ... we can go ahead and give them that support."
The truck features two microwaves, an oven, a freezer, a refrigerator and a food warmer. Food truck employees can provide warm food on site or store cold drinks and serve them as needed.
