Fans of hot melty cheesy sandwiches in Iowa will be happy to hear that one of the area's newest food trucks is all about the sandwich melt.

The signature item at the Sandwich Studio, which opened in July in Ames, is the Mac Melt — gourmet melted cheese on Texas toast complete with bacon, mac and cheese and the option to add some homemade pesto.

The truck is owned by Tameron Paulson, Zachary Bates, Care Liew and Austin Steffa, all local residents who have also worked together over the years, according to an Ames Tribute report.

"It's the most random thing we've made," Steffa told the news outlet about the Mac Melt. "That thing works though. We've gotten a lot of compliments on it."

The menu also includes the Spicy BLT as well as Midwestern chips called Old Dutch as well as snow cones.
