Kansas City event won't host food trucks after fatal shooting in August

September 3, 2019

Kansas City, Missouri's First Friday in the Crossroads District will not have any food trucks this month following the recent fatal shooting of an attendee, according to a KMBC-TV report.

The Crossroads Community Association said food trucks, street performers and curated art vendors will no longer participate in the event, although retail establishments will still be open.

Erin Langhofer, 25, was struck by a stray bullet and killed while waiting at a food truck at the August event.

The association said the change for the September event is due to the association's loss of general liability insurance and not being able to obtain coverage in time for the Sept. 6 event.
