Kansas City, Missouri, is considering a bill that would simplify food truck licensing.
Any food truck that gets a license in Jackson County could operate in any municipality in the larger county, according to a report by Missouri Independent.
The system aims to support the industry ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The bill would not weaken any safety standards, but it would nullify any stricter permitting or licensing requirements in other municipalities.
"I feel like we're pushing jobs, we're pushing taxpayer dollars and we're pushing good food across the state line," Danielle DuPree, executive director of nonprofit Ennovation Center, told the news outlet. "Also, too, we have FIFA coming, and I'm getting lots and lots of emails from food truck operators from all over the country wanting a little piece of the pie."
