Lee's Famous Recipe using AI to run drive-thrus

Like most restaurant brands, Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken can't always find enough workers. With its drive-thru business thriving due to the pandemic, the Florida-based chain decided to test conversational AI by Hi-Auto to help fill in the gaps.

"We not only have to be famous for chicken, but we have to be famous for consistent, fast service," Bill Sparks, the company's VP of operations and franchise sales, said during a webinar, "How Lee's Famous Recipe overcame hiring crisis with Conversational AI."

Chuck Doran, a franchisee who co-owns 13 Lee's locations, has rolled out the technology described as "Siri for the drive-thru" in several of his stores. During the webinar he talked about how it has helped increase the speed of service as well as accuracy.

Additional panelists included Dr. Farhaan Mohideen, product engineering and IoT spokesperson from Intel, Roy Baharav, CEO of Hi Auto Conversation AI, as well as Carl Nank, strategic adviser at Hi Auto and former VP operations at Jack in the Box.
