Los Angeles Times slams plan to allow food trucks in national parks

November 5, 2019

The Los Angeles Times has dismissed a proposal by the Trump Administration to privatize national parks, including allowing food trucks, on the grounds that it conflicts with the parks' founding purpose of preserving nature.

The Interior Department's Outdoor Recreation Committee has suggested allowing food trucks and Amazon deliveries, improving Wi-Fi coverage and allowing electric bikes and various recreational uses, the newspaper stated in an editorial.

The advisory committee consists of private industries that would profit from these changes, the editorial claimed.

"You can't simultaneously conserve and exploit a natural resource," the editorial claimed.
