Louisiana town welcomes food trucks

November 29, 2018

The city council of Slidell, Louisiana, has approved an ordinance allowing food trucks to operate in any part of the city currently zoned for restaurants. Food truck operators will need to pay $75 for an event permit and $500 for an annual permit, according to a report by Nola.

Despite this decision, council members do not expect food trucks to flood the city.

"The reality is I don’t know that Slidell has the market to support a dozen, or even half a dozen, food trucks," councilman Bill Borchert said in the report.

Others are excited for the change. Chris and Karen Case, owners of the Old School Eats food truck, said in September that the ordinance would help to attract more food trucks to the city.
