Louisville food trucks will be permitted to expand their service area beyond the city's office parks under a proposed regulation, according to the Daily Camera. The city council will hold a public hearing and vote on the proposal early next month.
The proposal would allow food trucks to operate in front of the city's recreation center and at city-sponsored events like the Street Faire and Farmers Market. Food trucks would be allowed to offer coffee and breakfast items outside of the recreation center, according to officials who said the site's nearly $30 million expansion would create more space for food trucks to operate.
The proposal also would amend a rule preventing food trucks from operating within 150 feet of brick-and-mortar restaurants. The trucks would be able to serve within that distance with permission from restaurant owners.
