Lawmakers in Louisville, Kentucky, have proposed a rule that restricts vehicles parked at parking meters from doing business, a restriction that food truck owners say violates an agreement that the city would not dictate where food trucks operate based on proximity to restaurants, according to wave3.com.
While the food truck owners claim the amendment puts them at a disadvantage, the proposal’s supporters say they plan to create specific areas for food trucks, similar to zoning rules for restaurants.
Members of the Louisville Food Truck Association, which claims that the city has 73 licensed vendors, said they would have to move every 10 minutes. They also said the rule violates an agreement the city signed regarding food trucks.
